An important reason for the success of the three earlier REFSQ workshops has been the rigid workshop structure of short presentations, well-prepared discussants for each paper, plenary discussions, and the fact that the papers are made available to all participants electronically before the workshop. Nevertheless, we think there is still room for improvement, and this preparation kit summarises our experiences from the earlier workshops. You are expected to follow them precisely in preparing for the workshop, as all the attendants did in '94, '95, '97 and '98.
We need an email statement about which of the authors who will attend REFSQ'99 by April 30th. The paper will not appear in the workshop proceedings unless at least one author attends. Note that this has nothing to do with registration for REFSQ'99 and CAiSE*99, which you have to do to the CAiSE-organisers directly. Most likely there will be early-registration rates, so hurry up!
We must receive your camera ready paper before May 5th and formatted according to the Springer LNCS-series' standard. We will use the typesetting instructions at

However, any mentioning in these instructions of copyright forms or hardcopies sent by ordinary post do not apply to REFSQ'99.
Unlike last year, we will use the standard Springer/LNCS text area. (Page numbers and headers will be added by us outside of this area.) There are LaTeX style files available at

Maximum paper length for a full paper is 14 pages and 6 pages for a position paper, preliminary result report or industrial problem statement. If this is not enough for you, we charge 50 ECU for each additional double page. This must be paid to Klaus Pohl before the workshop starts.
The workshop papers will be made available electronically on May 10th at
<http://www.ifi.uib.no/konf/refsq99/papers.html>. Do not contact the organisers if you have trouble downloading a paper. Instead, contact the author directly and solve the problem through email.
You must read all the other papers in your own session carefully in order to contribute to the discussion of these papers as explained below. Later we will also appoint "Discussants" for each full paper.
The presentation of each full paper is restricted to 15 minutes to enable intensive discussions, and 10 minutes for position papers. We are strict about this.
The first slide of each talk (both full papers and position papers) should be a slide which positions your paper relative to the following framework by drawing arrows between the afflicted people and defined products in the RE process:

Be selective - there's no problem drawing a lot of arrows, the problem is choosing the most important ones in relation to your paper... Focus on the main ideas!

For each full paper 3 other workshop participants will be appointed as discussants in order to provoke discussions by preparing and presenting a slide which should answer the five questions presented above for that paper.
For position papers there is only a single discussant.
